A CROWD of more than 65,000 was at Silverstone on Sunday for the 2012 Hertz British Grand Prix.

Yamaha factory rider Jorge Lorenzo celebrated his fourth win of the MotoGP™ season and his second British Grand Prix victory at the Northamptonshire circuit.

But the biggest cheer of the day was saved for British rider Cal Crutchlow.

Having broken and dislocated his left ankle in Free Practice on Saturday morning, he fought through the pain to battle his way from the back of the grid to an astonishing sixth place finish.

Crutchlow moves up the MotoGP™ leader board and ahead of his Tech3 Yamaha team mate, Andrea Dovizioso, in the Championship.

It was a good day for fellow Brit James Ellison too, who finished 14th overall, fourth in the CRT category, to secure two championship points.

While Crutchlow stole the headlines in the MotoGP™ class, the crowd was treated to a Moto2™ podium by British rider Scott Redding, who rode a stunning race to finish second. Fellow Brits Bradley Smith and Danny Kent also put in strong performances. Smith finished seventh in Moto2™ and Kent sixth in Moto3™.
