PITSFORD Water recently hosted the Alex Booth annual charity match.

A total of 20 boats took to the water and all anglers caught with four bag limits.

Rob Dobson won with a 20lb bag just ahead of Joan Russell with a 19lb bag who took second place.

The week started out in bright, sunny conditions and warm winds and ending with cooler stormy weather.

Bank anglers have been catching early morning and evenings.

Mick Foster, Alan Worley, Peter Cousins and Terry Pancoust have all had good bags from the North Bank to Ash Tree Bay.

The best Rainbow, 6lb 4oz, was taken by Mick Hawkins.

The best boat areas were Pines, boils/Dam and Brixworth Bay and the best bank areas were Gravels, North shore, Rigbys.

The midweek boat winner was Malcolm Williamson, of Harpole.

Forthcoming events: Beginners’ courses July 21 and 28; August 1, 11 and 25 and other dates throughout the season.

Mark Bradbury took the best Brown of the week at 5lb - a fin perfect fish taken from the dam at Ravensthorpe Reservoir. Ravensthorpe regular Mark said it was in wonderful condition.

The changeable weather conditions and variable winds have made fishing challenging.

On the more favourable days, with light winds and cloudy skies, anglers have enjoyed some phenomenal sport with several boat anglers catching and releasing 20 plus fish.

Fish are mostly up in the water so floaters or sink tip are all that are needed.

Anglers have reported seeing several very large Rainbows.

The best brown, 5lb, was taken by Mark Bradbury.

The best boat areas were The Boils, Domes and Coton End and the best bank areas were The dam. Mid week boat winner was Stuart Payne of Long Buckby.
