LEISURE Lakes cyclist Vince Jenkins had good reason to celebrate this week.
Making the long trip to Glynneath in South Wales, Vince was hoping to get under the hour on a fast course in the Realteam 25 Time Trial on Sunday.
He was foiled by bad weather on his last attempt earlier in the year.
But this time, he was not only able to beat the magical hour, but recorded his fastest ever time for the distance.
He averaged 26.36 miles per hour to clock 56.54 beating his previous best by 53 seconds!
“It just shows you that even at 72 years of age you can still dream of doing great rides and make them happen,” said Vince, having beaten his personal best that was set almost four years ago.
Next week, he will be back in Wales to defend his Welsh 10-Mile Championship.
