CASEY’S continued their winning ways in style against rivals Yelvertoft after a week’s break.
Chris Trill continued his rich goal-scoring form scoring twice early in the game. He finished off in style after latching on to two superb through balls from the irrepressible Stuart Clarke and Leigh Roberts.
Ben Hyams from close range added a third with the visitors unable to live with the attacking pace of the home side.
However on a rare attack from the visitors Casey’s defence conceded what could only be described as a soft goal.
Worse was to follow after a total mix-up and failure to clear and a following careless tackle resulted in a penalty.
Casey’s keeper Roger Leeson made an acrobatic fingertip save to push the penalty attempt around the post to prevent another score.
The first-half closed with a 4-1 lead courtesy of a text book drive from the hard working Paul Beevor.
Casey’s increased their lead early in the second-half with a fortuitous rebound from a Paul Beevor shot and Chris Trill added his hat-trick goal to put the game beyond doubt.
Yelvertoft to their credit never gave up and grabbed a consolation goal late on.
But a superbly-crafted free-kick by Leigh Roberts ended the game in style placing his shot in the top corner giving the keeper no chance.
In the next few weeks Casey’s meet up with the big boys of the first division. This starts next week the 21st away to the Bell and a couple of weeks later with Quigley’s the seemingly invincible and unbeaten past champions.
These games clearly are major fixtures and Casey’s need to be at their very best to put pressure on these ever presents at the top of the Rugby Sunday League.
