THE very wet start to the morning event gave way to brighter weather and did not deter some of the hardier new orienteers who came along to try out this adventure sport at Borough Hill, Daventry.
The event was organised by Octavian Droober member Sue Bicknell and planned by Amy Sarkies.
Newcomer Mark Leyden M14 won the short Yellow course in 11.38mins ahead of his brother Peter Leyden M10 17.48mins and third was club member Henry Jeffries M5 in 36.33min.
On the Orange middle distance course J Nottingham M55 from Leicester was first in 31.09mins; Jeremy Smith M40 OD was second in 34.55mins and John Wright M70 OD third in 35.01mins.
Winner of the long Green course was Chris McCartney M40 OD in 33.41mins, J Montgomery M21 Independent second in 41.29mins and Colm Connaughton M35 OD third in 41.11mins.
