A LOCAL family had an extra special Christmas after moving into their new home in time for the festive season.
Jamie and Liam Furniss, together with their two children, are just one of the families to benefit from the new affordable homes in Woodford Halse, built by Daventry and District Housing (DDH).
The first new homes from DDH are part of a project to reuse land which was already built on, replacing outdated properties in Weedon Bec and Woodford Halse with 26 quality, affordable homes.
The move-ins follow a report from the National Housing Federation (NHF) which identifies an urgent housing shortage as the number of homeless households in Northamptonshire reaches 1,116.
Hayley Davies, executive director at DDH, said: “The latest figures from the NHF show the reality of an unsustainable housing market and the long-term effects it is expected to cause.
“We are thrilled to have built our first new properties this year.”
