Have your say on town centre redevelopment

People can still have their say on plans to redevelop parts of Daventry town centre after two planning applications were submitted to Daventry District Council.

Henry Boot Developments Limited has submitted a detailed planning application for Mulberry Place – a new shopping centre, cinema and library proposed for land north of High Street in Daventry town centre.

An outline application has also been submitted by Henry Boot for a new supermarket, other retail units, car parking and petrol station to the west of Eastern Way, currently known as Site 5, which includes the old Gas Works site and the Ashby Road roundabout.

People still have some time to comment on the applications before they go the Daventry District Council’s (DDC) planning committee, although they will need to do so as soon as possible, ideally by the middle of February.

DDCs economic, regeneration and employment portfolio holder Cllr Chris Over said: “These applications are currently being considered and as such people can still have a look at them and have their say.

“However the statutory consultation period does not have too long left to run, so I would advise people, particularly those who live in Daventry, to comment as soon as possible.”

The applications can be viewed via the planning application search facility on the council’s website at www.daventrydc.gov.uk. The application number for Mulberry Place is DA/2012/0922, while the application number for Site 5 is DA/2012/0936.

Hard copies of the applications are available for people to view in Daventry Library, at Daventry Town Council, and at the reception of Daventry District Council’s Lodge Road offices.
