THE planned Mulberry Place and new supermarket developments in the centre of Daventry will be discussed by the town council tonight (Thursday).
Daventry Town Council is holding a special meeting to look at the three planning applications due to the scale and impact they would have on the town.
Daventry District Council and its developer Henry Boot have applied to build a new retail development, Mulberry Place, to the north of High Street which includes a cinema and new library. As part of the plans the current library would be demolished as would the unit occupied by Argos and that which was previously home to Exit menswear.
The supermarket, plus a large retail unit and petrol station, are planned for land currently occupied by the old gas works car park across to the outdoor pool site, and would see the Ashby Road/Eastern Way roundabout removed and Braunston Road re-routed.
The town council meeting starts at 6.30pm at the council’s offices in New Street.
