AT the weekend the Bucks ran out easy 3-0 home winners over Boston Town while King’s Lynn only just got the better of Spalding United by a 3-2 margin.

This was on a day when Daventry United’s game against Holbeach had to be called off because of a waterlogged Communications Park pitch.

Meanwhile the full Southern League programme went ahead as scheduled apart from Woodford United’s clash with North Greenford at Byfield Road.

Elsewhere in the Central Division it was a bad day for most of the clubs in contention for play-off places,

Leaders Slough Town suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at Aylesbury after two goals from Ty Marsh enabled St.Neots to become the new title favourites following a comfortable two-goal success at Beaconsfield.

Early season pacemakers Bedworth United went down by a similar margin at home to inconsistent Chalfont St.Peter and Biggleswade Town could only manage a goalless draw at home to relegation-threatened Fleet.

Rugby Town have not given up hope of reaching the play-offs after a lone-goal success at Chertsey while Barton Rovers also needed only a single strike to see-off the challenge of Bedfont Town.

Leighton Town and AFC Hayes drew 1-1 but Northwood warmed up for this Saturday’s trip to Daventry with a 2-1 home win over Ashford Town.

Aylesbury will now visit Communications Park on February 14 with St.Neots following suit a fortnight later.

In the FA Vase Newport Pagnell lost 3-2 at home to Durham side Ashington who were knocked out by Long Buckby last season.

But there were away wins for two other UCL sides, Peterborough NS won 2-1 at Norton while St.Ives scored the only goal to beat Tunbridge Wells in Kent.
