Turbine plans go to committee

TWO planning applications for wind turbines will be discussed by Daventry District Council planners on Wednesday evening.

The first application is for two turbines standing 71 metres to the tip of the blades on land south of Banbury Road at Canons Ashby.

Objections have been raised by Preston Capes Parish Council and English Heritage who highlighted the impact on the nearby listed Canons Ashby House and its church St Mary’s.

The opinion is backed by DDC’s own conservation officer who says: “What contribution will the scheme make to renewable energy targets? Are there real and significant public benefits that would outweigh the harm to the designated heritage assets?”

The second scheme is for Long Furlong Farm near Catesby where a 45-dmetre turbine is proposed.

Both applications have been recommended for approval by officers.
