STATION designs for a high speed rail line that will slice through parts of the Daventry district have been produced.

The controversial HS2 line, which will run from London to Birmingham, will cut through Aston le Walls, Chipping Warden and the Boddingtons.

Villagers have long campaigned against the £32 billion project.

Protesters believe the line will ruin the countryside and be a waste of public money.

This week HS2 Ltd has appointed engineering firm Arup to produce preliminary designs for Euston station, the London terminus for commuter trains running from Northampton, under a contract worth £10 million.

The proposed redevelopment would aim to transform the station and support regeneration of the surrounding area.

Proposals for its transformation include an HS2 terminus, a new London underground ticket office and more spacious platforms.
