Village schoolchildren fly the flag for creativity

A VILLAGE flag has been unveiled after a big effort from schoolchildren.

The Flore Flag came into existence after a series of talks on the Commonwealth and the British Overseas Territories were given to village schoolchildren.

Part of the work for the children was for them to design a family flag which represents the village.

And that has now been officially completed by pupils at Flore Primary School.

Talking about the flag village councillor Johnnie Amos said: “The fields are dissected diagonally in gold, representing the Goddess Flora and purple, representing the indigenous Flore plum.

“The wavy line forms the River Nene with the White blossom of the Flore plum and local flora.

“Found inside the blossom are the stamens, cleverly twisted to express the May Pole ribbons.

“Thanks must go to the children and the head of Flore School, Jan Stoppani, as well as to Philip Tibbetts and Graham Bartram from the Flag Institute.”
