A SIX-MONTH pilot campaign to tackle problems such as littering and flytipping has been hailed a ‘success’.
In October 2011, Daventry District Council launched a campaign to combat environmental crime in the district following feedback from residents.
The environmental protection team has been carrying out a range of activities including patrolling known hotspot areas and responding to information on environmental crime incidents from the public.
The crackdown has resulted in 18 fixed penalty notices being issued for littering and four for fly-tipping over the past six months.
Due to the success of the pilot the council said it will continue to use this approach and is urging members of the public to continue to report incidents of littering, dog fouling or fly-tipping.
