THE start to the new 2012 season was put back for at least seven days for Willoughby and visiting neighbours Braunston as their season’s opener fell foul of the recent weather.
Ironically after the recent fine weather and now a declaration of drought, heavy rain over the previous 72 hours resulted in a wet, unplayable square at The Green, and the cancellation of the match.
Willoughby will try to get their season off the ground this Saturday, when Leamington Khalsa are the scheduled visitors to The Green for a club friendly (2pm).
Earlier on Saturday will also see another coaching and game session for the junior cricketers of Willoughby’s U11 and 13 teams, from 10.30am until 12.00 midday.
