THERE were mixed fortunes for clubs in the Daventry Netball League.

The match between Cummins versus D.W. Ladies saw both teams playing good centre court passes.

Cummins went into a lead in the first quarter. Excellent shooting from Emma and Kelly from Cummins made all the difference and in the third quarter they pushed ahead.

With excellent defending from their GK Claire this gave Cummins the winning score of 23-14.

Next on court was Grafton Gate Ladies versus Ashmore Phoenix. This was a closely-fought game with the play going from goal to goal.

An injury to Judi Stevens at GS for Grafton meant a complete team rearrangement. Phoenix took advantage and pulled ahead but Grafton fought back to become final victors 26-24.

The third match of the day was Duston versus Flored.

Duston took a four-point lead in the first quarter. They continued to put pressure on but new team Flored never gave up the fight.

Excellent shooting from Dustons GS and GA Abby Ashby and Morgan Butler made them the victors 31-7.

The final match was G&Ts versus Barclaycard. This last game of the morning was closely contested with both teams having good centre court play.

Barclaycard put the pressure on to keep them a few goals ahead.

They also had played excellent defence work which ensured they were the victors at the final whistle 35-28.
