THE head of police in Daventry has thanked parish councils which have given their backing to Police Community Support Officers (PCSO)
It comes as there is a possibility as the number of PCSOs across the county could be reduced due to budget cuts.
However there has been a huge amount of support from people in the villages who wish to retain the officers.
Temporary Inspector Paul Valentine, sector commander for Daventry, said: “Since the proposals have been announced I have had letters from around 25 parish councils expressing their support.
“I have been overwhelmed by the response from people and it goes to show there is a lot of strength of feeling in the rural areas.”
Northamptonshire Police is facing budge cuts, but so is Northamptonshire County Council, which helps fund more than a dozen PCSOs.
